On-grid Solar Inverter

An on-grid solar inverter is a device that converts DC power generated by solar panels into AC power for home use, and sends any excess electricity directly to the public power grid.

Its core features can be summarized in three sentences:

One-way power flow – Unlike hybrid inverters, it cannot charge batteries. It simply converts solar DC to AC and feeds it either to your home loads or to the grid.

Grid-dependent operation – It requires the utility grid to function. If the grid goes down, the inverter automatically shuts off for safety reasons (anti-islanding protection), meaning you cannot use solar power during a blackout.

Cost-effective & simple – It has no batteries, no complex controls, and lower upfront costs. Excess solar power is sold back to the grid, often through net metering, which can offset your electricity bill.
